Chess To Impress
This chess set was designed by Monique LaJeunesse and handmade at Little River Hotglass Studio in Stowe, Vermont.
Its inspiration was drawn from the architecture of St. Basil’s Cathedral in Moscow, Russia and the historical, adventure novels involving a rare chess set entitled “The Eight” and “The Fire” by Katherine Neville. The bright, playful colors were chosen not only for their aesthetic appeal but as also a counterpoint to the serious nature of the game.
True to the handmade theme, the board was hand-crafted from Vermont Maple wood and topped with luxurious leather tiles. The board is 5 feet square and the tallest piece is over 20 inches!
